adam marelli: a room for improvement

An old and dear friend of mine who’s helped me a great deal in recent years with my personal photography.

a film year

Just 4-days out till my departure from the heat and into the depths of grey-snow. Here is my current travel rig sans any digital cameras for the time being, making 2013 as much a film effort as I can. Please feel free to follow me on instagram (@lukesatorujewelry), or twitter (lukesatoru).

Posting on the blog maybe a little delayed due to travel and still back-logged on scanning negs. Oh, and a belated Happy Chinese New Year to all.

In a state of limbo at the moment with the collection already designed and things getting photographed and prepped for this month in NY. I’m eager to leave the heat for some cold weather and brown-snow. This part of the jewelry design/production process is a bit of a lull for me since the creative portion has passed. Looking for more life experiences to kick me in the butt.

In the meantime, I’ve offloaded a great deal of camera stuffs in trade for something sublime and simple. Far beyond anything I would need, the Leica MP 0.58 is something I want. In no way will this make me a better photographer but it certainly has inspired me to shoot more. I design and produce what I believe to be beautiful objects and so I search for like items. For a 35mm film camera, this will most likely be the last I purchase.

Bringing with me on my travels this coming month:

adam marelli

Adam Marelli will be in Bangkok, Thailand this coming January 25-27, 2013 for a 3-day photography workshop. For those not familiar with his work, please check out his website below. I’ve known Adam since our days at NYU some 10+ years ago, so it’s great to reconnect with him here in Asia. Not to be missed!

new studio

0519-19

Just moved to a small studio space to give a bit of separation between my daily work and creative projects. I wish they were one in the same but this may turn out to be a more productive option. Multi-tasking is not a strength of mine but for what I do, it’s a good thing. Posts may slow down due to this change.
